Couples Therapy

“She doesn’t listen to me”
“He doesn’t seem to care”
“I don’t trust her”
“I feel like we are growing apart"

If this sounds familiar you are not alone…

Our romantic relationships can be our greatest source of love, happiness, and fulfillment. They can also bring us immense pain, strife, and sorrow.

We are wired to have meaningful and intimate relationships with others. It's no wonder when our relationship breaks down, so can we.

Many of our "problems" can be traced back to our interpersonal relationships. Having a healthy and loving partnership can only help us in our own personal journeys.

Couples will wait an average of 6 years before seeking help. Furthermore, less than a quarter of the marriages that end in divorce in the U.S. will seek help regarding marital issues.

Whether you are dating, engaged, or with your partner for decades, couples counseling can be a useful resource at any stage of your relationship.

The therapy room offers a safe and supportive place to discover the ways the connection with our partner has broken down. Throughout the process the couple will gain valuable experience, skills, and new insights to help revitalize their relationship.

If you are considering couples counseling as an option, I encourage you and your partner to keep an open mind throughout the process. It can be difficult to finally make the commitment especially when managing stigma, time, or perhaps a resistant partner.

I always remind my couple's clients that many of us were never really taught healthy ways to approach relationships. It is not our fault if we had poor role models or our partner has never had to wash dishes.

It is more than common for couples to have challenges, and seeking help must not be seen as a lapse of character, but a courageous step to nurture our most important relationship.

Testimonial

My fiance and I are both therapists, so we were picky about who we saw for premarital counseling. We couldn't have asked for a better fit with Adam! He is genuine and authentic, and we really appreciated his ability to use different styles and approaches with us. Adam did a wonderful job of listening and challenging both of us, and we never felt like he was on "one side" or the other. He is balanced and able to validate each person equally. Adam was good at having structure to our sessions when we asked for it (we did initially meet with him to discuss "premarital" topics) yet he was always able to go in a different direction if we came in with a more timely issue we needed to discuss. I would recommend Adam to anyone looking for couples counseling - he is gifted at what he does!
